IDP: IELTS Australia

IDP Education is a global company offering student placement and English language testing services.     

Using its network of over 100 offices in 32 countries, IDP places more international students into Australian educational institutions than any other organisation. It places students into all sectors of the Australian education system, including higher education, vocational education and training (VET), English language intensive courses for overseas students (ELICOS) and schools.

The University of Cambridge ESOL Examination was established as department of the University of Cambridge in 1858 in order to set a standard of efficiency for schools in England. 

Examinations in English as a Foreign Language were started at UCLES in 1913, with the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) which was introduced in 1939.             

Cambridge ESOL, now known as Cambridge English Language Assessment, offers the world's leading range of certificates for learners and teachers of English,  taken by almost 4 million people in 130 countries.  More than 20,000 employers, universities and government bodies around the world recognise Cambridge English Language Assessment qualifications.  

Cambridge English Language Assessment exams are offered by approximately 2,800 authorised centres worldwide.  Cambridge works closely with these centres to ensure they are able to deliver the exams in line with the quality standards.  They are also committed to giving centres the help and support they need in order to offer the best possible service to test takers.



The British Council promotes educational, cultural, and technical co-operation between Britain and other countries. The Council's work is designed to establish long-term and world-wide partnerships and to improve international understanding. The Council works in over 100 countries across the world.

Administrating examinations on behalf of British examining boards and educational institutions is an important part of British Council's work.  Almost all council offices overseas administer IELTS and can provide facilities for candidates wishing to take other British examinations.
